CSS/ISD709 TUTOR PROGRAM
Dear ISD 709 families, free tutoring for K-12 students is available through the CSS/ISD 709 Tutor Program. We have tutors in most grade levels and subjects. They have completed training and are ready to work with Duluth students!
Go to this web address: https://css709tutor.setmore.com/ to book tutoring appointments. Once there you will be able to choose the grade level needed, the content, the tutor and the time they are available. Once you book a tutoring session you will receive an email with the details of your appointment. Appointments are online. A link to the video conference session will be sent with the email.
If you have any questions please feel free to email Beth LaVigne at blavigne@css.edu
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast is served daily and will be free for all students. Lunch will not be free to all students. That means that families will need to complete the Free and Reduced-price Family application to qualify for free or reduce-price meals. Students who do not qualify for free or reducepriced meals must pay full price for lunch. Lunch prices are: Elementary Schools--$2.70 Middle and High Schools--$2.95 Students that wish to bring lunch from home and purchase milk from the school, the price for milk is $.50.

Duluth East 9th Grade
Open House
Wednesday, February 8th, 2023
5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Presentation at 5:00 p.m.*
Duluth East High School Auditorium
East High School will be hosting an Open House for incoming 9th grade students (current 8th graders) and their parents/guardians on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, from 5:00 - 6:30p.m.
At the Open House, students and families will attend a presentation given by school counselors and administrators, followed by an opportunity to tour the building. The presentation will include information on high school graduation requirements, academic course offerings for the 2023-24 school year, procedures for online registration and additional information on what to expect and how to access resources as students transition to high school. Tours will be offered by current Hound Pack Leaders, or you can explore the building on your own.
Following the tour you are invited to stay and be a part of the “Greyhound Experience” by attending the boys varsity basketball game vs. Forest Lake. Students attending open house get in FREE with a paid adult and will have the opportunity to see firsthand some of the amazing activities East has to offer! This is a great opportunity to spark school spirit within your student before their high school career begins!
We highly encourage students and parents/guardians to attend this informational evening.
We look forward to hosting the Class of 2027 and their families!
*Presentation will be at 5:00 p.m. in the Duluth East High School Auditorium. Families who can not tour after the presentation are welcome to come early at 4:30 p.m. and tour prior to the presentation. For questions, please contact the Duluth East Counseling Office at 218-336-8845 Ext. 2143.

Attendance Procedures & Information
Students begin their school day at 8:45AM and end the day at 3:15PM.
If your child is going be absent or tardy for any reason, please contact the school at
218-336-8940 ext. 4201 or email ordeanattendance@isd709.org. For your convenience, the Attendance Hotline is available 24 hours a day. If you are unable to call that day, please send a written note explaining the absence upon the student’s return. This note should include the date(s) of absence, the reason of the absence, the parent/guardian signature, and a phone number where the parent/guardian can be reached for possible verification. Failure to notify the school by phone or with a written explanation of your child’s absence will result in an unexcused absence.
Students leaving early MUST come to the office with a note before school to get a pass to leave. Due to the volume of calls each day, we ask that families not call during the day to ask for a pass to be sent. This is disruptive to the classroom and we may not be able to deliver it in time.
If the student does not have a note then the parent/guardian will need to come into the front office to sign out the student, at which time we will call the student to the office. All students coming or going during the day MUST sign in or out through the front office.
