Mental Health Services Across Duluth Public Schools
During digital learning, we’re asking that students/families log attendance in Infinite Campus each day. This step will provide more accurate, up-to-date attendance records and help teachers have more time to provide educational support and interact with students.
- Elementary students and families will log their attendance each day through Infinite Campus Parent Portal or Student Portal.
- Middle & High School students will log their own attendance each day using Infinite Campus Student Portal.
- If you don’t have an Infinite Campus account, please contact your school.

Students will use their ID number and network password.
If you received a hotspot and it isn't working in your location, please contact your school. If you don't have internet access and need a hotspot please contact your school to apply.
Students are expected to receive daily interaction with their licensed teacher each day.
Contact may take place through email, phone, text Google Meet, Canvas, a shared Google document and/or face-to-face.
Teachers will release content and learning activities by week. This allows students and families to gauge workload, time, and fashion a plan for completion. The plan is to release all new information Thursday mornings for the coming week. Predictability will help provide a comfortable routine. Unpredictable assigning practices cause undue stress on students and families.
When is student work due?
All student work is due every Wednesday at noon. This deadline allows teachers to grade and discern what students need for the next week.
Students and families will be able to take attendance during digital learning days. Please see the appropriate video for instructions on taking attendance through Student or Parent Portal.:

Additionally, a student would be considered in attendance by completing coursework in Seesaw or Canvas, or having contact with a teacher through phone, videoconferencing, email, etc.
Duluth teachers use a learning management system called SeeSaw to support digital learning for students. The system is robust, engaging and easy to navigate.

Each day students will check into a daily welcome page. On that page will be a welcome video from the teacher and a breakdown of the activities to be completed for that day. Elementary teachers may also have a morning meeting session on Google Meet which is a live virtual meeting tool. Students will be shown how to click the link and join the meeting and connect with their teacher and classmates.
The activities section will show Activities listed for students to complete on that day. Students will be instructed what to do. They can listen to the instructions, submit their response and show what they know.
Parents/guardians can receive the daily announcement and keep up with their students using the SeeSaw mobile app or by accessing their Seesaw account on their computer. Parents/guardianscan monitor and view what their students are doing and how they are doing, including seeing any interactions with the teacher. Through SeeSaw, they can easily interact with the teacher, too, sharing questions or concerns. Even better, families can encourage and give feedback to their students right on the SeeSaw platform. This is really important for building community and helping students to thrive.
Duluth Preschool will be beginning the school year in a hybrid model. Students will attend school two days a week and distance learning opportunities will be available on the days students are not in class. You can choose for your child to be enrolled in only distance learning. For more information on class options click here.

Are there Chromebooks for preschool?
The school district is providing Chromebooks to families who need them for students in grades K-12, this does not include preschool.
How do I access SeeSaw for my preschool child?
For preschoolers, your child’s teacher will give you information to access their Preschool See Saw account. We will begin posting preschool lessons on SeeSaw on September 21.

Video: For Parents/Guardians, Create a Canvas Observer Account
Duluth teachers use Canvas to provide learning modules, guidance and interact with students. Students will receive course work for the week. They can complete this work on their own schedule – also referred to as asynchronous learning, which means the entire class and teacher are not together. There will be opportunities to meet virtually as a class, check in and have live lessons – called synchronous learning.
There will be a weekly or daily announcement from the teacher. Students will see a list of the learning targets for the week and then students will move into the content to be completed.
Typically, there are lessons, opportunities for students to dig in and build their own knowledge and then be directed to an assignment or a discussion. There is an opportunity here for students to post their thoughts in a discussion format and interact with their classmates.
When it’s time to complete the assignment the criteria is spelled out, students click submit assignment and upload their work. Additionally, students might see specific outcomes and standards that apply to the assignment.
Some courses might offer current event type discussions that address issues going on in the world. This is a way to build informed citizenships with our Duluth Public School students. Teachers may invite students to join other programs that allow them to read and be part of a wider community of learners.
