Long Term Disability (LTD)
The District provides Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance through Madison National Life for benefit eligible employees. LTD is an income protection plan. Should you become disabled for over ninety (90) calendar days, you should apply for this benefit. LTD provides 2/3 of your annual salary while you are unable to work after a ninety (90) day waiting period. The application process requires information from you, your physician and the District. You are encouraged to begin the application process as soon as you believe you will be absent for over ninety (90) days.
LTD is a District paid benefit. However, you have the option of paying the tax on the LTD premium. Should you choose this option and become disabled, your LTD benefit would be nontaxable subject to IRS regulations. You may change your tax option during the Fall Open Enrollment Period.
