The following Professional Development is designed to work at your own pace and can be completed in any order. Directions for the links are listed in each individual training module. 

  • ALICE (You will receive an email from ALICE prior to Professional Development) 
    • Audience: All 
    • Review what ALICE stands for, why it’s important, and how it can empower us to take action to stay safe. 
  • Safe and Welcoming Training: Understanding Implicit Bias 90 minutes 
    • Audience: All 
    • We are utilizing the online Kirwan Institute’s Implicit Bias Module Series. Complete the following:
    • Introduction Video 
      • OVERVIEW (all four parts)
      • Module 1: Introduction, Lesson 1: What is Implicit Bias?, Lesson 2: Implicit Bias in Action, Lesson 3: Origins of Our Bias, Recap and Check-In (be sure to “Download PDF” of your responses)
      • Module 2: Introduction, Lesson 1: Implicit Bias in Academic Achievement, Lesson 2: Implicit Bias in School Discipline, Lesson 3: Access and Evaluation, Lesson 4: Implicit Bias and Structural Racism, Discipline Data Snapshot, Recap, and Check-in ((be sure to “Download PDF” of your responses)
    • Be prepared to engage in a facilitated discussion with your building principal or supervisor on September nd. 
  • FERPA Training 
  • Total Program: Blood Borne Pathogens
  •  Learning Management Training 4 hours 
    • Audience: Instructional staff 
      • 4-hour training modules to get you up and running with Canvas or Seesaw. These trainings are designed for teaching staff.  Additional staff that would like to learn more about the learning management systems can opt to participate in overview materials located in the paraprofessional Week of September 1 document. 
        • Canvas - Secondary Teachers - Please complete Canvas Module Rounds 1 and 2. 
      • Elementary teachers and others using Seesaw this year - Please complete the training linked below.
  • Special Education Complaint Resolution Training
  • Exit Ticket (The link will be sent to you prior to the end of the day on September 2, 2020) 
    • We value your input and ask you to fill out an ‘exit ticket’ at the end of the day. Your feedback will be reviewed by the staff development committee. Any site specific information will be shared with the building principal. Look for an email with the link. 





Professional Development Opportunity - CANVAS and Seesaw

Are you in need of Canvas and Seesaw Support?  Want to learn more? 

Joe Schingen, Digital Learning Coordinator, will be offering additional PD on September 1 at  Lincoln Park from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and Piedmont Elementary from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm to help navigate the Learning Management Systems. Both sessions will be in the media centers.
