Activities at Congdon


Summer K.E.Y. Zone 2019 - Please read the attached letter regarding Summer 2019 K.E.Y. Zone registration from the K.E.Y. Zone directors. Congdon Park has been selected as one of the sites open for summer! Registration will begin March 4th.  Summer KEY Zone registration information can be found here


Duluth Public Schools Summer Excel Program is open to students entering grades 1 - 5 in the 2019-20 school year.  Program runs July 8 - 26, Monday - Thursday from 9 am - Noon. Select any site that works for your family: Congdon, Homecroft, Laura MacArthur, Lester Park, Lowell, Myers-Wilkins, Piedmont, or Stowe Elementary.
KEY Zone is available at a reduced rate before and after the EXCEL session at Congdon, Lester Park, Laura MacArthur, or Lowell Elementary.  KEY Zone runs daily from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Registration begins on April 15th.  Watch for details from your child’s school.
Summer EXCEL (Experience Can Enhance Learning) is a targeted services program for students who meet at-risk criteria (Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.68, Subdivision 2). The Summer EXCEL program is designed to minimize the loss of learning over the summer break using unique and varied approaches to engage students with the teacher, school and community.


Running Club - for 4th and 5th grade students, run by parent volunteers.  Students will train twice a week after school and have the opportunity to run the John Galo 5K on June 10.


Lego Robotics - held on Tuesday afternoons and run by parent volunteers.


Key Zone - KEY stands for Knowledge, Enrichment, and Youth Development, and KEY Zone provides an academic and enrichment Out-Of-School Time Program offered year-round for students in Grades K-5. The program is offered collaboratively through the Duluth Area Family YMCA, ISD 709 Community Education, and EXCEL Targeted Services.


Excel - Excel is for students who need extra help with Reading and Math, K-5.  Talk to a classroom teacher if you're interested in your child participating.  


French Club meets on Tuesdays after school.   


Destination Imagination (DI) registration is complete.


Snow Club is an opportunity for skiers and snowboarders in grades 3-5 to receive lessons and have fun after school on Wednesdays in January.
