GED Preparation and Testing
GED Preparation: The Adult Learning Center offers classes to help you prepare for the current computerized version of the GED. Classes are free and include free or low-cost practice GED tests. Let us help you get ready for GED success!
Adults who are not attending a secondary school program and did not receive their high school diploma have the option to study for the General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
The GED is recognized as a high school equivalency credential for job seekers and for students planning to apply to postsecondary education.
GED Classes: GED preparation classes are student-centered and self-paced with assistance in the areas where the student needs more focus.
There are four tests to the GED: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.
The questions in each of these tests require the use of general knowledge and thinking skills as well as basic computer skills to fill in blanks, tab among pages of text, compose written responses, scroll down pages, drag-and-drop information, to name a few.
Pearson Vue GED Testing: The Adult Learning Center is also the official Pearson Vue GED testing site for the Duluth, Hermantown, and Proctor communities.
Testing Information: To be eligible to take these tests, adults must be at least 19 years old or have an “Age Waiver” approved by the state.
Tests are given 2 days a week. To schedule a test, please visit ged.com to create an account and schedule your tests.
Upon successfully passing all of the test subjects, a high school equivalency diploma will be issued from the State of Minnesota.
