Supporting Student Success

What we do as educators and staff impacts the the lives of children and young people every day. We’re fortunate to do work in which our “why” is so clear. The future lives of our students, their families, and our community are influenced by our ability to ensure that all students are finding success.

That’s exactly why our multi-tiered system of support, professional learning communities focused on student learning, and improving our relationships and understanding of culture are so important. They allow us to identify in real time when a student is not being successful and to provide the supports they need before they fail.

Visiting schools across the district I see many examples of how we give students what they need to be successful. An extra check-in during class, a new teaching strategy, small group break-outs, re-teaching when necessary, time with an interventionist or a myriad of other interventions, all designed and planned for through professional learning communities. When implemented with fidelity, these supports are resulting in increased levels of success, higher summative assessments scores and progress toward closing the achievement gap.

I believe every student has the potential to succeed. I believe we can make a difference in the lives of every student every day. Thank you for all you do to build positive relationships and help students find their success.
