Call for Naming Suggestions: Help Name Our New Educational Center

Duluth Public Schools is excited to announce the start of the naming process for our new educational center! We invite all students, employees, alumni, and community members to submit their suggestions for an appropriate and meaningful name for this new facility.

This facility, located at 424 W. 1st St., will house a wide range of important programs serving diverse ages and needs, including: Early Childhood, Community Education, Area Learning Center, Academic Excellence Online High School, Duluth Adult Education, Special Education STEPS program, the Enrollment Center, and T-12 and Bridge programs.

In accordance with School Board Policy 810 (Naming Rights and Naming School Facilities), the Superintendent will appoint a committee to review suggestions.

Criteria for Name Suggestions

When submitting a name, please ensure it aligns with the following key criteria outlined in our policy:

  • Scope of Service: The name should reflect the diverse range of programs and learners served by this multi-use facility.
  • Balance and Context: The name must maintain an appropriate balance with current or historical context and contribute to the school district’s presence in the community.
  • Mission Alignment: Names must not conflict with the district's mission and vision, and the long-term effects must be considered.

Submitting Suggestions

Please use the dedicated Naming Suggestion Submission Form to provide your suggested name and a detailed rationale explaining how it meets the required criteria.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 16.
