Teaching, Learning and Equity
The Teaching, Learning and Equity (TLE) Department supports the district's aim of high achievement for all. We are dedicated to the goal of providing a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all Duluth Public Schools students.
Our school district examines educational data and breaks it down into various demographics. Locally and nationally, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and special education are areas where we need to increase student achievement. As educators, and as a community, we want all students to realize their full potential. Our goal is to continue to work as a team to implement evidence-based practices to ensure high achievement for all students.
Our department works to implement an instructional plan where student interests, strengths and challenges, experiences and family culture, all contribute to designing a pathway to academic proficiency that works for them.
TLE is responsible for transforming instructional practices through personalized learning in order to eliminate racially predictable disparities in achievement and accelerate the achievement of all students. To meet each student’s needs, we provide research and evidence-based curriculum, resources, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and professional development for our staff, schools and programs that are aligned with state and national standards.
