Enrollment for kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year is open and meet and greets have been scheduled.
After working with our transportation department, principals, teachers union and other administration, we feel confident that we can begin implementing a two-hour late start again. This option was previously removed from the district’s weather closing procedures after a brief stakeholder survey. After this year of record-breaking snow, however, we felt it was necessary to revisit the option.
Denfeld High School, along with three other schools in St. Louis County have received a threat. We believe this is not a credible threat as the call came from out of state.
On Friday, the video of the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols, who died after a traffic stop by police, was released by Memphis officials. To say the very least, the video is shocking.
On Jan. 25, we had to cancel two morning bus routes and two afternoon bus routes due to staffing issues. I want to take this opportunity to explain why these routes were canceled and what our processes are to avoid these situations. I also want to apologize to students and families who were negatively impacted.
Jill Lofald was elected as the Duluth School Board chair for 2023 at the annual organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 3. This will be Lofald’s fourth year serving as board chair
