ISD 709 Proposes Adding Instructional Time to Offset Cold/Snow Cancellations

ISD 709 has had 7 snow/cold days off this year. Recognizing that instructional time is vital to the student learning process, and after discussions with principals and teachers, ISD 709 administration is proposing adjustments to the school year:

--Students attend school Friday May 16 (formerly a Staff Development day with no school for students).

--Students attend school Friday June 6 (June 5 was formerly the last day of school).

--Extend the end of the school day by 12 minutes beginning Monday March 24 and through the end of the school year (adds the equivalent of 1.6 days of instructional time).

The Board is expected to vote on the addition of this instructional time at its March 18th meeting.
