Students are taking part in a summer learning program provided by ISD 709 Community Education and the Duluth Area Family YMCA. It’s designed to help prevent “summer slide,” the learning loss some children experience when school is out. Mornings are dedicated to literacy work; afternoons are filled with enrichment activities that include art, music, science, field trips and physical activity. This is the fourth year for the program - participants show strong gains in reading skills.
