Congdon Park Kindergarten Students Visit Duluth East for Tomato Man Project

Kindergarten students from Congdon Park Elementary visited the greenhouse at Duluth East High School to learn about seeds, how they grow, and plant seeds as part of the annual Tomato Man project.

As part of their Plant Sciences coursework, high school students are growing the

seedlings in the school greenhouse.  They’ll bring the plants to Congdon Park to be transplanted into larger containers that the elementary students can take home toward the end of the school year.

ISD 709 Career & Technical Education

Plant Sciences is part of the Agriculture and Forestry career cluster through ISD 709 Career & Technical Education.  It offers two main pathways for students to explore: Plant Sciences 1 and 2 along with Forestry, Fish and Wildlife management.  Both programs are great ways for students to delve into science related career and life skills.  Programs are offered to students who attend Denfeld and Duluth East High Schools, the courses are currently located on the East campus with transportation provided by the district.  More Online
