Federal Programs

Title I

Title I is a federally funded program to improve learning opportunities for educationally at-risk students enrolled in public and non-public schools.
The Duluth Public Schools Title I programs serve eligible students at five elementary schools: Stowe, Laura MacArthur, Piedmont, Lowell and Myers-Wilkins, one middle school: Lincoln Park and one non-public: St. James
There are also Title I programs at the alternative sites: Woodland Hills, Merritt Creek and Chester Creek academies.
Families in Transition

The Families in Transition Program can assist families, schools and the community:
  • enroll homeless students in a stable educational program
  • make transportation arrangements
  • gather school records from other locations
  • distribute school supplies and make referral to agencies that meet basic needs
  • increase awareness and support in the community
  • be an advocate within the school system as well as in the community
