Paying For School Lunch and General Cafeteria Information

To provide for efficient service, ISD 709 school cafeterias operate on a pre-paid lunch system.  Parents put money in a school lunch account and students enter a computer code each day to pay for their lunch.

How do I put money on my child's lunch account?

Parents have three options to put money in their child's lunch account:

  1. PayPams Online:  This is a secure online payment system for parents and students to pay for school meals. PayPams provides the ability to check account balances and monitor what your student is choosing to eat at any time. The site charges a convenience fee of $1.95 per student for each payment submitted online.  To use PayPams, create an account at paypams.com. The site will take a credit card for payment or they are able to take payments from your bank account.
  2. Check - Write a check to Child Nutrition and mail to 215 N 1st Ave East, Duluth, 55802, or to the School Cafe and send with the student to school. The student name and student number are required on the check memo line.
  3. Cash - Parents may send cash in a sealed envelope with the student's name printed on the envelope. The student's teacher will turn the envelope in to the cafe for deposit in the student's account, or student's may pay cash on a daily basis at the register.

How are returned checks handled? Money will be withdrawn from the meal account. Returned checks are subject to a $30.00 service charge.

Consistent with the treatment of other debts owed to the school district, all outstanding debt related to the lunch program will be subject to handling by a collection agency.

How do I know when my child's lunch account is running low?

PayPams Online:  Through PayPams online, parents may check balances from any computer at any time. Parents can also choose to receive an e-mail from PayPams when the account reaches a certain balance (suggested amount is $10.00).

Infinite Campus Parent Portal:  Parents can check Infinite Campus Parent Portal for their lunch balance.

Autocall:  The Duluth School District has a low balance autocall system. When your student's balance reaches $5.00 or less, an automated call goes out to the household (using the phone number on file) with the amount of the balance.
